We are excited to share the little runt baby, my Juliette, then Heidi, Now Sassy of the Shepherd mixes has been adopted...
I got a call about a week ago from an alumni adopter letting me know her son would be reaching out. They are a young family, ready and committed to getting a puppy. Knowing they had 2 small children, I picked out Heidi and Azriel for the meet and greet.... Both were smaller in stature, but ultra submissive and kid handled repeatedly...
Juliette/Heidi stole the show... I knew she would, and all of this came to fruition as it was meant to be..
The little 3 year old, asked to sign the adoption contract too... ( It made my day) she wanted to be included in all of this, and knew this was HER puppy....
Oh my sweet Juliette, you overcame so much in such a short time this new life is all yours baby girl... I can't wait to see you blossom and grow into the little powerhouse you are...
Till next time... I love you always.
We are pleased to share the adoption of Sampson 💜
Sampson was dumped on the streets of Woodcrest with his sister Delilah on July 21st, I met up with the finder and grabbed these 2 starving puppies..
Sampson was such a scrawny puppy.. All legs and not much meat on his little bones... 72 hour decompression and then he decided he wasn't gonna eat. (Sheer Parvo panic) He snap tested negative but was exhibiting so many mirrored symptoms. Turns out he had Coccidia. Fortunately we were on top of it, and this boy was back to himself in 4 days....
A sweet, sensitive boy he lived amongst the girl puppies and they loved to bully him in the play yard... He was always down for snuggles from his foster momma... Playing with the big dogs was his favorite....
Sampson caught the eye of a family in Los Angeles, who had lost their Shepherd/Mal and wanted to see if Sampson would blend in with their 13 yr old Mal (Gator) and their Golden/Shepherd (Arthur). Music to my ears. They came down for a meet and greet, and got to go meet all the pups including Sampson so they could pick the best match for their family. Sampson made sure to throw his name in the ring right out the gate, crawling on dad's lap for the first face kiss. ❣️ Not much needed to be said after that. The photos can speak for themselves...
Happy Tails Sammy boy..... On to to your next adventure 💙
We are pleased to share the adoption of Grace (Our Noodle)💜
This one is a heart wrencher, sweet Grace our little baby noodle ( a nickname she got because when she got sick, she felt like a wet noodle, so weak) When you spend so many hours, with round the clock care, you bond so incredibly with these little babies. This little lady warmed my heart every time I saw her. Lori and I actually had a conversation that included potentially adding her to our own pack, because she was the sweetest little noodle.
Then a chance naming, Deanna and Richard weren't ready for a pup yet, but both agreed she would be the one they wanted if they could. So instead, they donated $50 and named her Grace. I reached out to Deanna (who is YLUL Alumni Tank's grandma) just to let her know that with this litter a few of them weren't going to be as big as the others, and maybe this was a good size for them. She shared about an upcoming trip, missing her last big shepherd and wanting to complete this trip before she adopted a dog...
Well look what we have here, not only did they name their dog, they couldn't live without her. I told her if they didn't adopt sweet noodle (Grace) then she was staying with me.... Through tears, she said they wanted her and that was that.... I am a lifetime resource for my adopters. I will do everything to make sure they have a successful adoption. They get what they NEED, not what they WANT, and help and guide along the way...
This little girl hit the jackpot and she doesn't even know it yet.... I feel relieved that she will be with such amazing folks and dog lovers....
Oh my sweet noodle..... You deserve this life little ladybug.. I will love you for always.... your 1st foster momma. 💜
We are overjoyed to share the adoption of Delilah 💜
Miss Delilah was dumped on the streets of Woodcrest with her brother Sampson July 21st, I met up with the finder and collected these 2 starving puppies. (I posted the video)
Miss Delilah from the beginning, was the sweetest, most loving, and easy natured pup. She just wanted to be where I was, and she hated that she couldn't run free until she was good with her shots.
This big black beauty caught the eyes of her momma, reminding her of a previous puppy soul she had lost. Delilah's mom works in mental health and this gorgeous girl, is gonna bring some unconditional love to those who need it most. She is adapting quite well, making herself at home in her new digs with a lush backyard. She has gotten to meet lots of people and is showing them why she got picked for this awesome job and this amazing life...
Happy Tails sweet Lyla 💜
We are pleased to celebrate the adoption of our gorgeous long haired Shepherd Tilly...💜
Tilly was an owner surrender on 7/18/23. She had been adopted 3 months prior to that, from a private party but was having some trouble adapting to a wheelchair abled human.
Tilly adapted pretty quickly to rescue life, she loved to fetch, and follow me around.
Tilly caught the eye of the owner of "Thatcher Manor" right here in Gavilan. The family came out and met Tilly, Canyon, Maxine and Georgie. They decided Tilly was their first choice.. We scheduled for a visit to their home, so Tilly could meet the horses, goats, chickens and cats to make sure she would be a good match for them. Tilly worked her magic of course. She is exactly what they needed, and wanted in their lives.. She has (4) girls to keep her company, and 12 acres to patrol..
Happy Tails Tilly....... fetch a ball for me.....❣️
We are so excited to announce the adoption of our sweet Gertie Girl 💜
This sweet girl was pulled from SBC shelter May 5th 2023. This lovely girl was in the shelter for over 30 days which is unheard of for Rottweilers. She came in like she belonged to us from the beginning. Running and Romping, happy to be with all her friends.
I knew from the day Gertie arrived that she was gonna make a family incredibly happy. Gertie drew lots of attention for her look and her goofy personality. Then FHO surgery, that deterred quite a few people, but not the Page family, they had Rotties with similar surgeries and understood what needs to take place for this girl.. Rottweiler owners, Law enforcement and with a sweet little dude to boot....
Gertie got everything she deserved and then some, and to a stellar set of humans. She is right where she belongs and is adjusting to her new life, just like she did here.... Walked in and forged her bond. I can't wait to watch this story blossom, especially her relationship with little Waylon.
Oh Gertie, you are the best little lady.. Enjoy your new spoiled life.....Couch cuddles with everybody..
Happy Tails 💜
🐾Oh Magic! 🐾
I’m not even shocked. In fact, I knew it was coming. After I spoke to your new momma on the phone that first day, I knew our days were numbered. 😭They were going to need the joy of another Rottie in their life, and you checked all the boxes (OF COURSE YOU DID 💜)
Sadly, Stephanie and Chris lost their beloved Rottweiler Jonah on Tuesday 8/15/23, 🙏 knowing their sweet Danni would be missing him, they started to look for a companion for her. They spotted Magic.
The drive from Santa Barbara was worth it for this match, they are avid rottie lovers, and Magic is the sweetest dude, following his new sister around.
Magic, my sweet meathead boy, the lives you have touched with your resilience is unparalleled, they thought they could break you, starving you to near death, but you have a warrior spirit. Your smile will forever live on in my memory.
I can’t wait to watch you grow! Enjoy your much deserved spoiled rotten life.
We 💙 you Magic.
Magic was rescued from SBC shelter on 6/7/23
We are pleased to celebrate the adoption of Malia 💜
Malia was found as a stray in Apple Valley in Early April. She wasn’t chipped. Nobody came forward to claim her.My friend Alondra offered to foster her, until I could get her fixed and to the new property. Another sassy, ball driven, faster than a speeding bullet young Malinois. Malia loved to outrun all of her friends, making her the enemy of all things ball… Boy was she something to watch.
I finally got her posted, and an inquiry came through right away. Annie couldn’t get her off her mind. Malia checked all her boxes. She was about to make the drive from Nevada, to come meet this special girl.
Annie arrived and Malia didnt hesitate to go say hello and seek affection. We played fetch, she came and sat down with her. Malia followed her everywhere she went. Malia has always had a companion spirit, with great ball drive and an easy to tire out personality.
Annie has reported she is dong well and following her around everywhere.. She is everything she didn't know she was missing again, and has given her a reason to take 3 walks a day with her new best friend.
Happy Tails Malia… You deserve all things good sweet girl.❤️
Momma Elsa and her 7 babies were rescued in Early March 2023 from a working ranch farm (not that kind) under a hay shelter. They were receiving less than adequate care. Momma was skin and bones and trying to nurse these babies.
We got the owner to surrender her and the pups. I tried to find a foster, hit a few hurdles, but found a place to have them be kept safe for a few weeks. These babies were thriving, although Momma had been put through the ringer.
Momma Elsa had these beautiful snow angels at just one year old. Sophie, her Mini-Me, was always watching her momma to learn all the rules about Livestock Guardianship. Their foster home was in love with Momma Elsa. We too thought for sure she was a lifer there and that she was going to be an EPIC Foster Fail. 💜
An inquiry came in from our new friends at Lost Creek Canyon Ranch saying they hoped to get 2 pups from Miss Elsa’s litter. We do not adopt out litter mates, and we only had Sophie left. She asked about Momma Elsa, and I told her I would make a phone call, but could make no promises.
Fortunately for Elsa and Sophie, their foster family so graciously gave Elsa up, but only if it meant she would get to live her best life doing all the things she loves. We made it a bullet proof adoption. Should there ever come a day, when Elsa decides unemployment looks better than a full time career, she always has a spot on the Vahidiville couch! Carrie Vahidi
We love you so much girls. Go make us proud and show them what you are made of.
Happy Tails, Momma Elsa and Sophie. Until then…..
GET’em girls! 🐾🐾🐾
Miss Keiki was found March 13th in Nuevo, and was never claimed. She was so thin, and full of stickers and burrs. Angelica reached out and said she had somebody who would foster her. I don’t typically do huskies or hounds, but am happy to back a dog if somebody is willing to be a committed foster.
Sarah stepped up and has kept Keiki since March 15th.
She reached out this past week and asked if we had any interest for Keiki. Keiki has always gotten a ton of interest but terrible follow up from potential adopters.
The VERY NEXT DAY, Marcus sent an inquiry from Petfinder.
It felt like it happened so fast. I sent the application, and once it was returned I forwarded it to Sarah and said, “I think these are Keiki’s new dads. What do you think?!”
She wrote back immediately and said, “OMG, this couldn’t be more perfect!” I invited her to come and be here for the meet and greet since she herself had housed this baby.
Such a sweet couple, great energy and fun friendly faces. Keiki took a bit to warm up, but then she was all in. 💕💜 She has a fur sister Bella that she will get to spend her days romping with. ❤️
From the streets of Nuevo to her new forever home.
Happy Tails, sweet Keiki 🐾🐾🐾
Air Force has been on trial adoption since Friday, 6/16. About an hour after we dropped him off, he jumped the fence 😳. The same fence he saw me walk out of 😥. I raced back out there to try and track him down. I took off my jacket and threw it in the driveway to leave my scent so he could track his way back, and we were off and running.
We didn't see him anywhere, so I returned back to the house and asked to check the backyard again, just in case. Low and behold he was already back in the backyard. He jumped the fence, realized his mistake, and jumped back. I offered to take him back, but they didn't want to give up.
He has been a stellar boy all weekend, and Laura called me and said, “We are ready to sign papers now. No way would I ever give him up, because he's such a good dog.“ Today we went back over and finalized his adoption. He was so excited to see us, but he was such a good boy and they are in love.
Air Force had been at the rescue for 14 months, and is now an 18 month old puppy. He had been overlooked, and we really couldn't ever figure out why… Short of being so bonded to me (as he should) and not wanting to leave me. He's been a stellar dog.
His adoption was sponsored by Lizzie! (formerly Feta from the Cheese Litter and her family)
Happy Tails Air Force, you are such a good boy and I am so glad you found your forever home… We love you! 💜🐾
*He has plenty of fur siblings and space to run the property… He got to meet pigs/goats and horses.. He took it all in stride.
Roger A554032 was rescued from SBC Shelter on 5/6/23 this boy spent way too long at the shelter with folks arguing over wether he was too lab for the Dane rescue and too Dane For the lab rescues. I saw a big black beautiful puppy needing exonerated from his prison cell.
This goofy, sweet boy was pretty perfect,a large dog, which is why we believe he was surrendered to the shelter he was already 85 pounds and still a little thin for my liking. He got interest right away. Heather and her family had suffered a loss of their beloved German Shepherd and were so excited to meet him. It only took 5 minutes and they decided they were absolutely not leaving without him. We
We couldn’t be more happy for this shelter save. He really shouldn’t have ever ended up there. But so grateful for the McNichols family for adopting this black beauty! Happy Tails Roger Dodger 💙
From the very beginning we knew Ramsey was going to need a special family. Although he is a LGD, we hoped we could find him a family that wanted him instead to be a mostly indoor/emotional support puppy. He has always been the most sensitive, and we wanted to honor who he showed us he was.
Julian sent an email inquiring about Ramsey, sharing a bit about himself, his life and his current dogs, and what he was looking for. I just knew Ramsey was their boy. Ramsey took to Julian and Alyssa immediately, crawling in their laps, following everywhere for treats. Both Carrie and myself sat back and just watched Ramsey do his thing.
His two new brothers, Hansel and Dr. Gusman, adored him. We couldn’t be happier for this chap. He is heading exactly where he should be - Hollywood.
We are so happy for you Ramsey.
Happy Tails, sweet boy! 🐾🐾🐾
Fiona was originally found in Nuevo roaming the streets. For three weeks everybody tried to catch her. A trap with food was set, and Fiona was caught. She was fostered by the original finder, but then the finder reached out to rescue to see if we could get this beauty into a home. I found a lovely foster family for this girl, and they have had her for a few months.
Her foster family went on a Mother’s Day trip so I offered to take Fiona, I posted her on Rescue Me, and Facebook. One of my alumni adopters asked if she could come meet her. She had previously adopted YLUL alumni Poppy Seed, now Cinnamon, and her family has always loved Dobermans.
Fiona took to the children quickly just as she had done with her foster. Karen and her family had done such a good job with Fiona which I’m sure is why she was able to be adopted so quickly.
Happy Tails Fiona,
No more street life for you sweet girl! 🐾🐾🐾
Sweet Lucille was the last puppy of our surviving parvo litter. Lucille was another LONG TIMER, having been here for over a year.
This beautiful family had actually applied for Tortellini, but she was adopted before I could get a chance to even review the application. So then they inquired about Air Force, I had them come out but told them I had another dog I wanted them to see. Air Force was so shy ( totally not his general disposition). This family has a lovely little boy and Air Force couldn’t decide what was going on. I went and brought out Lucille, and everything changed.
Lucille started playing almost immediately with little Luca. They brought Buddha, their older Doberman, and Lucille tried to incite play. It was adorable. This adoption was one that made me tear up. Lucille has always been so deserving and I'm so glad somebody was able to see the beautiful and great little pup she was.
Happy Tails sweet Lulu. We love you.
🐾🐾🐾
Miss Tortellini arrived at the rescue March of 2022. She was the pup I thought would be the first to go, but as luck would have it, she was the last “pasta puppy" to be placed. Miss Torti has been here for over a year, and she was offered a sponsored adoption. No cost to the adopter, but would need to be an approved application.
Torti was in foster with a family with two boys for a little over 2 months. Torti loved to be around kids, but was proving to be an energetic pup that needed more exercise then the family could provide. I picked Torti back up and brought her back to the rescue. She was a perfect mid size pup of about 40 pounds.
Torti is a fetching queen, loves to chase lasers, and loves kids. Erin reached out and said Her hubby had spotted Torti and they saw she had a sponsored adoption and thought it may be a sign that its time for a third dog.
Erin and her family adopted YLUL alumni Harlow in 11/2020 and returned 2/2022 to adopt YLUL alumni Winter. So it was only fair that they return 5/23 to add Torti to their pack. She is fitting in incredibly well.
Torti has always been a very loving, and snuggly love bug. She's athletic, she loves to play and is still a puppy. She got her boys back and she couldn’t be happier. Erin and family report she's playing with both of her fur siblings and sleeping with the boys.
We are beyond happy to finally see Torti get a permanent home. Happy Tails Torti! You were a favorite of many volunteers and your absence has been felt.. You are such a good little girl. We love you! 🐾🐾🐾
Margaret made her way down here from Nevada to come pick out her pup. She didn’t have her mind made up who she was going to want, so she decided to let the dog pick her.
Well it didn’t take long for Pete to latch onto his momma!
Everyody back home was so excited to meet him and get started on training. Pete was the biggest male from the litter. He's already 35 pounds at 15 weeks. He’s got a few other fur siblings at home, and he gets to be a working dog, but with a spoiled posh life. He is going to be a big big boy!
Happy Tails Pete, now Loki! Go show them what you can do.
We love you big baby boy! 🐾🐾🐾
Milo was found as a 5 month old puppy roaming the streets of Gavilan with his pregnant Momma Willow. The family that encountered them couldn’t have been more suited. They are friends/supporters of the dog rescue.
Milo is a beautiful Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix pup. An absolutely stellar dog. Milo has lived in his foster home and could have happily stayed! But we all wanted what was best for Milo. I told them I could find him the best home. Ryan (Milo’s new dad) had reached out to me. He ultimately was interested in Beau, but didnt know Beau had already been adopted, as I hadn’t posted. I told him Beau had been adopted, but I had another dog that may be a better match for what he was looking for for himself and his 2 young boys.
I sent him quite a few pictures and videos of Milo, and he was head over heels almost immediately. He asked me to not post him and give him a few days. (I knew this match was going to be amazing, so I held off). Ryan booked a flight from Washington and I picked him up from the airport myself. Took him to Milo and the bromance began.
Milo is everything Ryan could have asked for in a dog and his 12 year old and 4 year old sons are just as excited to have the dog in their family. I couldn't be happier for Milo, because he got everything he needed and wanted for his new forever family.
Happy Tails Milo. You are such an amazing boy, and we cant wait to see all the good things that come into your life. We adore you, sweet boy. 🐾🐾🐾
Napoleon was one of the biggest boys, and his momma’s twin in male form. He got a ton of attention because he was such a beautiful puppy. We received an approved application for him. Scheduled a meet and greet.
Napoleon took to the kiddos immediately. This family had lost one of their other furry family members, and their older golden retriever was depressed without their friend. Napoleon is gonna be a big boy, we cant wait to see him grow.
For now, he is living his best life, giving his momma a run for her money. I found out mid appt, that this family was referred to me by another YLUL Alumni which happens to be her sister… We love the referrals!
Happy Tails Ollie. Be the best good boy!
🐾🐾🐾
Cindy is an avid rescue supporter, foster and all around animal welfare activist. She has always wanted a Pyrenees pup. When she saw the litter, she spotted the one she knew she wanted for herself.
Chamonix (Shah-mon-a) was the perfect 50/50 puppy. Ready to protect her yard, and ready to entertain dogs and people alike. She’s a great puppy. She has made potty training look easy. She is crate sleeping at night, and making her way outside to potty.
That nice big protective bark is already showing at 15 weeks old. She is exactly where she is supposed to be and we couldn’t be more excited for her.
Happy Tails Chamonix. Such a spoiled pup! 🐾🐾🐾
Buddy was surrendered to the rescue by his human dad. Sadly a divorce and an on the road job, made it impossible to be able to keep his wonderful dog. When he reached out, I had him come to the ranch with Buddy so I could see if he was a match for the rescue.
Buddy fit in like he belonged here. Within 30 minutes this boy was romping with his new friends. Buddy went into foster with some great friends of mine, and three weeks later an application came in. The meet and greet was set-up and as you can see it was a match made in dog heaven.
This dog checked all the boxes. A stellar dog, doing the job he was born to do. Beau is now in protection/bite work. But still a loving, social, love bug of a dog. We couldn’t be happier that our sweet Boy found his family and his calling.
Happy Tails Beau, you are one smart chap. We adore you! 🐾🐾🐾
Tucker has joined the family of YLUL alumni Alex Karev (from the Grey’s Anatomy litter), now Nash. Tiffany Nash’s mom reached out when she saw the litter and wanted to bring Nash to meet a new sibling.
They didn’t come to meet Ralph, but Ralph chose Nash.. (See the inset picture) These brothers are so adorable together. Nash is so protective of Tucker. It is one of the sweetest things I have ever seen.
Tucker is a big boy and such a gentle giant. We love when alumni come back for repeat adoption.
Happy Tails Sweet Tucker, you hit the jackpot with your family. We love you buddy! 🐾🐾🐾
Luna’s big sister is YLUL alumni Phoebe Kate. As soon as Phoebe’s mom Holly saw this litter come into rescue she reached out immediately wanting to get a girl. It was love at first sight.
They had a family vacation to Disneyland planned, so she was picked up just a week after her meet and greet. She is settling in well, and she couldn’t have gotten a better family.
Miss Phoebe is enjoying her new little BIG sister.
Happy Tails Luna. We love you! 🐾🐾🐾
IT IS SO……… Barkley has left the building!
John and Jessica were looking for another friend for their energetic pup Millie. Barkley acted like his shy reserved self, (say what?) and we know in no time, he will be keeping Miss Millie on her toes and showing her the ropes of all things fetch and laser.
Happy Tails Barkley! Your time has come and we couldn’t be happier for you.
Enjoy the good life Barkley🐾🐾🐾
Angela from Cause4SbPaws reached out February 4th and said, “I’m at SBC and this man is dropping off a Shepherd puppy. He has a docked tail like a Rottie. I know you are FULL but I just had to show you.” Should I continue with how this went?
Due to his age, I had her keep him until he had been vaccinated and I didn't need to be concerned with him contracting Parvo.
I picked him up about 2 weeks later and fell in love. What a stellar puppy! Big beautiful ears and so incredibly smart! He was about 3-4 months of age and already about 40 pounds. I started his meet with the pack and by sundown he was all in.
Anja (dear friend from her days at Water Wheel) reached out to ask if I still had him. Having lost her beautiful boy Ares, she was considering a new male pup to add to her pack.
She, Brody, and her beautiful little girl came out to meet Xander, bringing Percy and Raya to meet him as well. The meet and greet was pretty spectacular. He absolutely loves his little human sister and guards her with his life. His sister Raya took some adjusting to this new found prince claiming space in her home, but she’s decided he’s worth keeping around and Percy doesn’t think he’s half bad.
He’s already about 58 pounds at 5 months old and is going to be a BIG BOY! I can’t wait to see him once he’s full grown.
Happy Tails you beautiful boy. You hit the jackpot! 🐾🐾🐾
Ravi was first adopted October 2022 and returned December 16th due to no fault of her own. I gladly accepted her back, and made a promise to her that I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.
Ravi spent the next 3 months back at the rescue, romping and carrying on with her friends. I introduced Ravi daily to all the same situations I was told she couldn’t handle, or would be adverse around. I just couldn’t get her to behave in the same supposedly negative way.
She is a Dutch/Dobie/Cattle Dog and she has always been a very oral/mouthy pup. Researching breeds is always something vital to do for any dog you are interested in adopting.
On March 7, a new inquiry came in for this beautiful little lover girl. I spoke with Melissa countless times, for about an hour each time, discussing all the things about her previous adoption, with full disclosure. Melissa wasn't deterred. She came to meet Ravi, with her boyfriend and their beautiful little girl. We agreed they would come a few times, to give her time to acclimate, and not be overwhelmed with a single visit.
Ravi warmed up quite quickly, following for a walk, taking treats from all members of this beautiful family. I stayed back and watched body language, watched her wagging tail as they called her to follow. The decision wasn't mine though - really it was up to Ravi. They left to talk about what they wanted to do, and we planned a visit for the following week, to come back and visit her again. Little Ruby was absolutely shattered that they didn’t take Ravi home.
The next day Melissa reached out and asked if they could come on Tuesday. I agreed, and then later that day she texted and asked, “Can we come get her today?” They came back that evening. It was dark so Ravi appeared far more anxious, until she realized who it was. Then she was right back to her goofy self. She jumped on the rock with them and I was able to snap their family photo. Ravioli has a fur brother Taquito, a cat named Rosie Mae, and a 4 year old human sister Ruby.
She has already been to dog beach, follows her dad, loves her sister and is proving to be the stellar dog I knew she was. Oh sweet Ravi, I adore you and your tender, rotten, sassy, cattle self. We love you forever… Happy Tails to you. 🐾🐾
(Thank you Melissa for trusting me and letting me be a part of this journey with you.. I’m so glad to have met you.)
Rip came to us November 29, 2022. He was found as a stray in Mockingbird Canyon, with no collar and no chip. Since Jeffrey had Parvo, taking a young pup in here at the rescue wasn’t something I could do. I asked a great friend/adopter and supporter of the rescue if she was willing to foster him for me so I could take him in. She begrudgingly agreed, only because she’s a Labrador lover and was concerned she wouldn’t be able to let him go for adoption once it was time.
Rip received an application from a family with a female golden retriever. I called Alanna and told her we received an excellent application for this boy. She was excited, genuinely. I asked her if she wanted to be a part of the adoption day, and she was excited to do so.
The family arrived, and almost immediately Rip and Nala started playing together. Dad jumped in and asked Rip to do some commands, Rip complied.
They were here for about an hour and a half, asking questions, walking them both on leash, walking them off leash. Then they both said, “We absolutely want him!”
Rip, now Milo, has been to dog friendly restaurants, gotten his first pup cup, played Frisbee with his new sister, and is enjoying his new life. Oh dear Milo, we knew your family would come and we are so happy they found you!
Happy Tails you beautiful boy! 🐾🐾
Hattie arrived in March of 2022, an owner surrender for having killed some baby chicks. Her dad was a wreck leaving her here, but insisted his wife made him do it. Hattie was given 72 hours to decompress so she could be evaluated, I had already pet her, and she was quite friendly.
That all changed when she realized her dad was leaving her behind. She didn’t want to be pet, in fact she went on a hunger strike. I would sit with her in the kennel, and she would low grumble at me. I would talk to her and try to comfort her, reminding her I was gonna help her, and she would be okay. She absolutely, unequivocally wanted ZERO to do with me, I wasn’t her dad and thats all she cared about.
(This is so often the reality for so many dogs who are turned over to shelters/rescues that belonged to actual families. Families who loved and cared about them, and had to surrender anyway. Dogs DO NOT UNDERSTAND guys.. It absolutely breaks them. They grieve, they become depressed, they often show aggressive tendencies in hopes to “scare us away” so you will go get their families to come get them.. Think about it?! Wouldn’t you?!)
I had resolved to give her one more day before I called her dad to let him know, she was not happy here and he would need to make an alternative arrangement for her. That day came and went. Right before dinner I walked into her kennel, and she walked over straight away. I put the food down, told her I would call her dad, and went to back out, she got up and blocked me from leaving, nudging my hand with her head to pet her. I looked and her and asked, “What is this all about?” So I pushed my luck and didn't make the phone call.
The very next day the real Hattie began to emerge. Hattie was a rescue favorite, never really receiving any corrections in her almost year long stay with us. Friends with every dog, sweet, social, and loved people. She was told to us to be an Anatolian/Mastiff blend. She was equal parts a stellar dog. Loved to fetch, loved to snuggle. Zero food aggression, zero toy aggression. I was in no rush to see her adopted and would only allow the best opportunity for her.
In came the inquiry from Lynnette who saw her on Petfinder and had to come meet her. She was looking at another brindle pup from another local rescue and wanted to meet them both on the same day. Her boyfriend Jacob had a dog that looked very similar to Hattie and it drew her in.
They came for the meet and greet, and Hattie took to Jacob right away (In that moment, I had to wonder if she was asking him to be her new dad. You all know it made me weep.) Hattie also got to meet her new potential Aussie/border collie sister June.
Hattie has found her home, and she is loved and adored and cherished. She also has 2 cat cousins.
Happy Tails Hattie (Now Mattie or the Mad Hatter.) You deserve only the best things in this life. We love you beautiful girl. 🐾🐾
Hunter arrived at the rescue December 2nd, 2022. I had been tagged in a post of a gentleman living in a mobile home park who had to surrender his dogs. Come to find out, when he was away the dogs he had were barking and so neighbors began complaining.
Hunter was an AKC papered boy, but that mattered nothing to me as he was almost immediately neutered upon surrender. This boy was a gem, right out the gate. After the initial meet and greet and approval process to accept him, he was initiated into the pack here.
Such a stellar dog, smart, stunning and absolutely worthy of helping. I knew Hunter was good with dogs, kids, and just about anything else. Not a dog for a first time adopter. That I knew for certain.
During a live video, a gentleman commented about how he wanted to meet him. I reached out and we set up a meet and greet for him and his current Shepherd Capone, and his daughter’s German Shepherd Falco. I facilitated the meet and greet, and it went incredibly well.
Three male German Shepherds residing in one home is absolutely feasible. Rocco is a lover boy, already showing his protectiveness with the grand baby Tony, and being a great little brother to Capone and cousin to Falco.
Happy Tails Hunter, I love you always. Thank you Dennis for reaching out and coming to see him, and the whole operation. So happy to have met you and your dogs.🐾🐾
Freya arrived at the rescue (her auntie’s house) on 3/25/22. She was my brother’s dog. When he lost Bronson, YLUL alumni Vader, to Lymphoma on 10/30/21, it flipped his life upside down. He was depressed, and found himself wanting to do nothing. He said Freya was depressed too, as is common when a dog loses its mate.
When he adopted Freya from a dog rescue in Arizona, he got her for Bronson. Losing Bronson just made it that much worse. Freya needed companionship, and other dogs. He asked me if I would take her in, of course I said yes. Freya came and joined the pack like she had always belonged.
Freya has always gotten interest because she has such an exotic look, and is a pretty perfect size. But nobody had gone so far as to fill out an application.
Wednesday I received an email on the website, and an email from RescueMe. This LEO family had a 5 year old Rottie male, and were looking for a sister playmate. Chewie is a rough and tumble player, and often got reprimanded at dog parks for being a “vocal” Rottweiler. I obviously was so excited to meet this big blockhead. They had purchased a home and were excited to find a friend for Chewie.
Freya was unsure out the gate how to approach as she had finally met her match. Kindred spirits, I say. The rest is history. Chewie and Freya now share an instagram page for all their adventures.
Freya- it’s a bittersweet adoption story, and you are so deserving of all the love in the world. I’m so glad you got a new forever family. Show him who’s boss.
Happy Tails, Freya!🐾🐾
Astrid came to us right under a year ago with her siblings. The family had been cited by animal control for having too many dogs. So all the puppies and momma were first to go.
Astrid was a sweet girl, shy and timid right out the gate but loved hugs and kisses. She’s always been wonderful with other dogs, so we knew finding her the right home would be pretty easy.
With slowed interest and adoptions post-covid, Astrid waited patiently. Then the inquiry came in. A family who had lost their 12 yr old dog, sent an email. They were drawn to her, and I immediately replied to ensure they saw she was only about 40 pounds, although she photographed much larger.
They came out to meet her, and that was that. She’s already weaseled her way into their hearts, and they have reported she’s being such a good, calm, gentle and loving girl.
Happy Tails Astrid!!! 🐾🐾
This beautiful family first came to me in 2016 when they adopted Chief, now Max, the black Shepherd in the photo. Then, in 2017, Shauna and Steve bottle fed 2 babies from a litter that was dumped. They decided to keep Marley, the white dog in the photo.
Shortly after Jeffrey’s arrival, Shauna reached out to me and let me know they wanted to adopt him. I didn’t hesitate. These guys are amazing, and they're one of my favorite adopting families. This is their 3rd YLU baby, and I couldn’t be happier!
Jeffrey is living the posh life, spending time with his fur siblings and his human kids too. He’s already growing like a weed and they send picture and video updates often. I couldn’t have asked for a better family to take this sweet warrior spirit of a boy into their home. I can’t wait to see him grow and flourish as a part of his new family.
This boy touched the lives of so many, and him surviving Parvo and thriving is the best gift he could ever give me. Of course before he left I introduced him to the pack.I love you baby boy!
Happy Tails my beautiful lover boy, you stole a piece of my heart. 🐾🐾
Miss Ellie (Bella) came to the rescue as an owner surrender after repeatedly getting out of an unsecured yard. We offered to get her spayed, in hopes that might help keep her in the yard.
Thank goodness we had done that as this girl too had Pyometra and often fatal uterine infection. We got her all vetted and she continued to get out with her brother and roam the streets. The owners relinquished her custody over to the rescue.
Ellie flourished here, and secure fencing allowed her to chase lizards, rodents and rabbits. She enjoys the company of other dogs as well. She is a perfect balance of medium energy and calm companion animal.
When Harriett reached out, we spoke of her unending love for the German Shepherd breed as that’s all she owned. Ellie velcro’d to her pretty quickly and so the new love affair blossomed. She’s reported Ellie is doing stellar, following her around the house, using the doggie door and getting some much needed rest in her new quiet home.
Happy Tails Ellie, you deserve all the love in the world.!!! 🐾🐾
This big handsome meat head has been waiting patiently for his people to find him, and they have, and what a great family for Echo!
This boy is a charmer, an excellent dog with so many wonderful qualities and traits. He is well-mannered, and smart as all get out. They picked up on that right away.
This beautiful family lost their beloved big dog over a year ago and wanted another big baby to fill their home and hearts.
Echo is now sharing his home with his 2 little fur siblings and 3 human siblings!
Happy Tails you stunning boy. We love you always! Happy Tails!!! 🐾🐾🐾
This girl was a favorite of anybody who came by the rescue, and of all the dogs here. Her famous Awoooo with the ball in her mouth was just icing on the cake. She was a perfect mid size dog topping the scale at 40 pounds. The last of the chocolates litter.
The 4th time was the charm for this baby. She had 3 meet and greets prior, but wasn’t taken home, and ZERO of them were anything to do with Chelsea. The first family came dead set on wanting Chelsea, and I introduced them to her sister Divinity, who I thought would be a better fit for them, and their lifestyle.
The 2nd meet and greet was a wonderful guy, who now follows the rescue. He loved Chelsea and Chelsea adored him, however he had one more stop on his trip to view a 5 yr old Rottie mix out of SBC Shelter. He shared he knew Chelsea was safe, and this other dog was NOT. We were sad for Chelsea but grateful James stepped up and adopted a dog from the shelter that would have absolutely lost his life. (How can one be mad about that? I certainly wasn’t) .
The next meet the family came out, and Chelsea followed their 3 year old around, offering kisses, and being the best girl. They too were supposed to see some dogs at the local shelter. They ended up adopting (2) separate dogs who also likely wouldn’t have made it out if not for them. So Chelsea saved 3 dogs' lives by being so wonderful. Although sad for Chelsea, I knew her people would come - hey always do - just never on any timeline.
Randi responded immediately to Chelsea’s post after seeing it. She was so excited to meet her, and bring Archer, her handsome Great Dane. That meet and greet was hours long, while we watched Chelsea, Archer and Air Force, run amuck and play with each other. Randi was a tad hesitant about Chelsea’s smaller size, as she too loves big dogs, but Chelsea pulled her in.
Archer and Chelsea, now Abbie Jean, are the best of friends and have already been on multiple adventures. My heart is overjoyed for Sweet Abbie. Her time has come and she got the best new momma, brother, and human siblings.
My sweet Chelsea, we love you forever and always. On to your new chapter of love and adventure. Remember us! 🐾🐾
Macaroni was the only fawn female of the pasta litter, the sweetest and most Velcro pup. She had quite a bit of interest but nothing really ever came to fruition. She was a perfect size, gorgeous, and a social butterfly.
I received an email from a woman in Northern California. I joked that I wasn’t trying to talk her out of a dog, but she was still pretty fresh in grief and because she wasn’t exactly local, I wanted to give her some reprieve from pressure. I sent photos/videos and we talked on the phone. She was hooked pretty straight away. She moved forward to make a plan to travel the 7 hours to Southern California to meet this baby.
Mac and I took her on a tour, a quick pack walk, climbed the rocks, then sat and just enjoyed each others' company. Katie is now a friend of mine. She made a stop at her in-laws before making it all the way back home to her hubby and son.
Miss Mac is taking some time to get settled. We flipped her little world upside down and she’s taking it one day at a time, loving on her momma and learning to accept the love and affection from everybody else. Katie and Mike are working overtime on the love and confidence building for this baby. I’m so grateful for the hearts that have to be patient while a dog finds their place.
You got this Macky! We love you so much! Happy Tails!!! 🐾🐾
Miss Pebbles has garnered attention for many months, but between ghosting, no show to meet and greets, and just life in general, she had an extended stay with us - and we didn’t mind ONE BIT.
Pebbles is a stellar gentle giant. This Mastiff/Dane girl is a love bug. She loves dogs, loves people, and especially loves lazy days on the couch.
Pebbles new family spotted her on Rescue Me and were quick to send in an application. Having lost their last Dane Zinni prematurely, they had grief and sadness in their now quiet home. We’ve changed that up pretty quickly. As you can see she’s settling in quite nicely.
Dearest Pebbles, we are so happy for you. You deserve the posh life and we can’t wait to see you soon (her new family is local).
Happy Tails my sweet girl! 🐾🐾
Semper (now Lucca) was always the most shy/timid of his brothers. He was the runt of the litter, but also the most athletic. He was also one of the sweetest of the bunch, too. He had a few meet and greets, but both resulted in him just walking away and taking himself back to his kennel, to avoid anymore contact from humans.
Over the last few months we have worked with him purposely on interacting with new people. He was male timid mostly, but you could see him kind of shut down when somebody he DIDN’T know wanted to engage him. He was never going to hurt them, didn’t growl, bark or bite, but simply tried to crawl back into himself. It broke my heart. I knew a family would come that would see in him what I saw, and he’s gorgeous to boot.
In comes Daisy, his prospective new sister, with Michael (owner) in tow. I explained the process, and went to get the boy and brought him out on a leash. They drove from Arizona so we had to be certain Daisy was going to enjoy Semper - and she did. Semper also walked with Michael on a leash and took treats from his hand. So proud of this boy.
Semper now has a family all of his own, another chocolate lab brother who didn’t make the trip, and two human siblings. They reported last night that he’s a keeper and they are so happy to have him.
Good job, my sweet boy. Happy Tails Semper/ Lucca!!! 🐾🐾
This little lady from the pasta bunch was the smallest of the litter and the most submissive and timid. I worked tirelessly to help her become acclimated and to introduce her to so many things. I didn’t think she would be the first pasta to go because of her shy demeanor, but her actual disposition is so soft and sweet.
Jessica emailed me right away, and we talked, texted, sent video. She knew she loved her, without ever having met her. We scheduled a meet and greet/adoption appt for Friday 9/23. They went for a walk, enjoyed some cuddles on the blanket, and Ziti raced around and chased the laser and lure toys.
Unfortunately due to an oversight on my behalf, Miss Ziti was never spayed. So we postponed the adoption to the following Friday 9/30. and I got her in for spay on 9/26.
Ziti has a cat sibling at home as well.
Jessica and Jason, congrats on the sweetest little smart box.
Ziti, my little stinker butt, another jackpot adoption. We love you gorgeous girl!
Happy Tails!!! 🐾🐾
Miss Stella came to us about 5 months ago with her little sister Luna when their family lost their housing. Cecilia called me in tears. She was terrified of them going to a shelter and somebody had given her my info. These dogs were cherished and loved and it broke my heart to watch them have to say goodbye.
Stella had been in a foster home since July 27th, where she was introduced to her new momma Miss Sally. Sally has a heart for dogs as well. Sally has been a supporter of the rescue for some time, and inquired about Stella. Miss Stella is an older German Shepherd that wasn’t thriving in a rescue environment for reasons that made perfect sense. She was much slower moving, their were so many other higher energy dogs, and it was rarely quiet for this soft sweet soul.
Sally agreed to give fostering a shot. It wasn’t long before Stella made her way into Sally’s heart. Through extensive vet visits, holistic medicines, acupuncture, and all things to add love and cushion to Miss Stella’s life, I knew Miss Sally wasn’t going to let her go.
Sally pushed back on the issue at first, but only because she really wanted Stella to have the best life. I reassured her that I chose her for a reason and I knew Stella would flourish under her care and guidance. Of course I was right; Sally is one of the best dog mommas I know.
Stella loves her Temperpedic dog bed, walks with her momma, and raw carrots as treats. She is spoiled and I think that's what she deserves for sure. Oh Stella Belle, I knew what I was looking for for you, and I found it in your Momma.
I saw these two a few days ago and captured the love they have for each other. Now I am sharing it with you.
Happiest of Tails Sweet Stella Belle!!!
I love you for always. 🐾🐾
Bow Tie came as the only boy of the Pasta Litter. He was outnumbered by all his sisters, which just kept this boy sweet and even-tempered. He got tons of interest because of his beautiful copper-coated fur, and drew the attention of Ridgeback lovers all over.
Then the email appeared. His new parents had adopted a Doberman mix pup from another rescue and wanted a friend for him. They were very excited to meet Bow Tie. Bow Tie was honored for the opportunity. He put his best boy paws forward and headed out to the yard to meet them…
A walk with his new brother ensued, followed by Molé stealing a stick, and desperately trying to get Bow Tie to play with him, and a little hump time.
Bow Tie quickly fixed that and now they are the best of friends, most of the time. Corey & Lauren asked what the next steps were to formally adopt this boy, and so it began.
Happy Tails you beautiful boy. We adore you Bow-Tie. You deserve the best life, and I think we have absolutely found that for you!!! 🐾🐾
This adoption is being posted a tad late because Rocky's big sister, YLUL alumni Sable (Now Harli), wasn’t here and I really wanted a family picture.
This relationship is 5.5 years in the making. Miss Harli was adopted in 2017, and her wonderful parents and my friends, adore her. Chris always watches my lives, comments and shares all the dogs.
One day, I asked if they were thinking of getting another dog She said yes, and no. We would love to get Harli a friend after she lost her fur sister. I told her I thought I had the perfect dog for them.
They came out and met Rocky Road. Harli definitely perked up when meeting him. The nervousness turned into excitement, and then, pure love. Harli and Rocki are inseparable. Another good doggie match. I love these knuckleheads!
Happy Tails Sweet Rocky !!! 🐾🐾
Doobie came to the rescue with his 2 brothers after being dumped at a school in Nuevo back in June. Sadly he came with 2 brothers who didn’t survive. On the assumption he had whatever they had, I quarantined this Baby for 30 days. He wouldn’t eat, I was running IV fluids, syringing baby food, and the real solid gold healer was of all things breast milk, human breast milk. I just kept putting droplets in his mouth, and the VERY next day he started eating. Thank you so much Stacey for that.
Doobie is a stunning, smart and playful pup. But so incredibly timid. Sadly he was the scared one of his litter, and didn’t get the chance to just be a puppy. He grew and was learning quite quickly but still was apprehensive around new people, (but never being mean) we knew it was going to take a family with patience. He’s the absolute sweetest good boy, who just needs reassurance that all is right in the world.
Steve and Erin came out to meet him last weekend. They had a few more things to tie up over the week and returned to collect him today. This boy has got a solid foundation of humans who will work with him, and help him continue his growth in confidence.
Oh Doobs, my boy I’m so happy for you. Happy Tails my little shy bug. Betty White will miss you the most…. Cheers to couch snuggles and fun walks. We love you little dude!!! 🐾🐾
Chloe came to us almost 5 months ago. Her family didn’t have time to meet her physical needs, and Chloe was getting in to trouble in their absence.
When Chloe arrived, you would have thought she came to doggy Disneyland. She loved everything and everybody, and is one of the best dogs to come through the program. She just needed exercise and this girl was stellar.
Chloe was another one waiting for a forever family patiently. Miss Mia (pictured) filled out the application, knew we were in Southern California, and said they would be in Irvine for her brother’s soccer tournament. Dad surprised her with a secret trip to come meet Chloe. It took about 30 minutes for Chloe to settle in and realize this lovely little lady was going to be her new person. Two peas in a pod, I say.
Chloe is back home in the Bay Area and it’s reported that Chloe has settled in, and she’s a terrific dog. We are always so happy for our babies. This one was just sweet - a girl and her dog. So happy for you Chloe!!!
Happy Tails Beautiful Chloe!!! 🐾🐾
Miss Luna came to the rescue 4.5 months ago with her sister Stella when their family lost their housing. Cecilia called me in tears. She didn’t want them to go to the shelter in Bakersfield and somebody had given her my info.
Luna is a high drive puppy, and when she arrived she was barking pretty intensely. Cecilia was profusely apologizing, and I told her that Luna was fine and just doing her job. These dogs were cherished and loved and it broke my heart to watch them have to say goodbye.
We kept in contact, they came out for Stella’s birthday, and then most recently for Luna’s 1st birthday on 8/31. Cecilia and her daughters soaked up every minute playing fetch, taking photos, and snuggling Luna. Stella has been in a foster home and was adopted by an amazing senior with nothing but love in her heart for dogs.
Trying to find a home for Luna was going to take some time, as she was very dog friendly, but also quite protective, even of me. So when I found a family that could meet her needs physically, and control her mentally, I jumped at the opportunity.
Who better to understand Luna, than her original family?
In the time Luna was with me they were able to secure housing, but since they had surrendered Luna, they didn’t think they could get her back. When I tell you they love their dog, they still do, and when I said, “Cecilia, do you want her back?” - she said, “I was going to ask you!” Yes of course you can have her back! Nothing would make me happier.
So here it is. Luna is back home and I couldn’t be more happy for all of them, especially Sweet Luna. I love you guys! Happy Tails!!!🐾🐾
Miss Helen has been following the rescue and Miss Pretzel since Day 1. In every live video, Helen always said, “Where’s Pretzel?”
Pretzel is a cherished, spoiled, cleft English Bulldog baby. I got Pretzel when she was a 2 pound baby, malnourished and so small. She started having seizures and I was so worried she wasn’t going to live.
Pretzel has always danced to the beat of her own drum. However at the rescue, because of her size, she always had to be crated when I was away, whereas her siblings got to be free. Predatory drift is real, (definition in the comments), and although all the dogs loved Pretzel, leaving her out unattended was not a viable option. Pretzel deserved to be a spoiled, cherished, and pampered house puppy, and now she is.
Helen drove her son to college and upon her return Pretzel went for an overnight and gave Helen a run for her $$. All I could do was chuckle because I knew my girl was putting on a show. We got her all situated, and Pretzel is now living her best life with her cousin, a Frenchie, and her 17 year old Chihuahua sister. She still loves her crate for bed, but now she can be a free bird and be doted and spoiled as she deserves.
Helen has become a good friend of mine, and I can always keep in touch to make sure the salty Pretzel is behaving herself. Helen I am so beyond happy for you and for Pretzel! She can help heal your heart and give you crazy amounts of sassy, unconditional love!
Oh, sweet Pretzel, I will love you for my lifetime. This one is for you sweetest chunky butt. Happy Tails!!!🐾🐾
Maggie came to us March of 2022 after a domestic violence situation which left her owner without a safe place to keep Maggie. They reached out to have me board her, which I was happy to do, with the prospect that maybe she could get her dog back once settled. Sadly that wasn’t able to happen, and they surrendered her to the rescue.
Maggie was a spoiled and loved dog. She did come pretty overweight, and most of the rescues they reached out to wouldn’t take her. I knew it wouldn’t be long before we got her slimmed down a bit.
Maggie has always been excellent with every dog and person she has encountered. She, too, was another dog that we just couldn’t believe hadn’t been adopted. Then the email came, with her new parents looking for another companion animal after having lost their lab. They came to meet Maggie and as you can see, she wasted no time showing them exactly how she intends to spend her days. Spoiled rotten. It didn’t take them long to decide. Maggie got a burger on her ride home, and went for a mile walk with her new dad to solidify the deal.
Welcome to your new home, Miss Maggie! Enjoy your new fur siblings. Happy Tails my girl🐾🐾
This one was a tad harder to write for me, because Bones was a special case, a very incredible dog who without being rescued would have suffered a fate nobody wanted for him.
Bones was a beloved dog owned by a family, but it was learned quite quickly that Bones was not a good livestock dog. This boy deserved to live, and I agreed to have him come to the rescue. Bones from day 1 after the initial shock wore off that he was some place new and had met 30+ dogs, he was just another sweet face at the rescue. He has been wonderful with every dog he has met, he’s obedient, he’s athletic, he’s stunning and he’s crazy smart. He checked off every single box, except he couldn't be around livestock. He had been with me for 6.5 months, and I couldn't wrap my mind around the fact he hadn’t been adopted. Inquiry after inquiry, no applications. How could this be?
Then it happened; I got an email. She wanted to know more about him, we emailed, talked on the phone. They were so excited, and she started buying him so many new things for the house. Meet and greet day, well it was as expected. He loved them, he played fetch, he wanted belly rubs, he sat pretty, he took treats. My gorgeous boy had found his people, and of course, I cried. Tears of joy for him, but for the family, too. They got a gem.
Oh Bonesy Jones, the pack isn’t the same without you, but we are so happy you found your people, you big love bug. (He also has an older fur brother Husky, named Scout.) As for Iza, Xander and Anthony, congrats! I adore you guys. We are now family.
Happiest Tails, beautiful Bones! 🐾🐾
And on National Dog Day, no less! Muncy's new pawrents came to see Echo this morning, but Echo was feeling a little aloof today, and Mr. Muncy, our beautiful Pittie mix, was a better fit.
Muncy came to the rescue around Valentine's Day, and though his litter had Parvo, this little fighter survived.
Muncy is the cutest little muscly meathead, and is a perfect gentleman. He loves other dogs, and it was very important that he love his new brother, Milo, a rescued Min-Pin mix. We all went on a pack walk together, and it was clear that Muncy was food-motivated, and obvious that those blue eyes were mesmerizing.
This is also important, because Muncy's new dad Garrett is a professional skateboarder and a YouTube/Instagram, etc. digital creator (see links below). Muncy photographs beautifully and will be easily trainable for videos/stills. So beyond being loved unconditionally, and gaining a wonderful new family, Muncy will also be a star in his own right. (We always knew you were, cutest boy.)

Happy Tails, sweet Kona!!! 🐾🐾
Penny Lane (left) came to us at the beginning of March. Her senior owner decided she was too much for her, and the owner's in-laws, after trying to make it work with their dogs - had to find a new home for Penny, and contacted Cause for SB Paws. They contacted us, and that's how we got this beautiful Dobie girl.
Penny's new parents had been told by their friend Katie who follows our rescue, that they needed to meet Penny. She had met Penny in person, and knew her friends would love her. Penny warmed right up to her new parents! They loved Penny, Penny loved them, and really importantly - Rudy, the darling Rottie, and Penny loved each other! And at the end, Penny loaded herself right into her new car to take her to her new home!
We love that Penny's new parents understand her independent nature, and that they understand how to give each dog the love that they need. We know you have found your forever home, sweet girl.
Happy Tails, pretty Penny!!! 🐾🐾
Astro’s family came to the dog rescue 7 years ago to adopt a dog, but their then female dog wouldn’t accept a new dog into their pack even though he was a puppy. Since losing their female dog a little over a year ago, they decided it was time for a new pup. They had their hearts set on one dog, but I told them I wanted them to meet another one as well, if they were up for it.
They met dog #1 who won’t be named because he’s a stellar dog, just super shy. Then I introduced them to the dog I CHOSE for them based on application, family dynamic, and energy. Well, it was a match at first sight. He came right out and walked up to both of them, sat in their laps, went for a walk, took treats, and the rest was history.
Today I checked in on him, and he’s doing excellent. Met their cats and walked away. Got a fresh bath and is loving his new home. Happy Tails, Astro. Your time came, my dude. Wishing you the best new life!
🐾🐾
Coastie (Coast Guard, right) has been with us since February. His dog mama was a purebred Weimaraner, and the puppies were mixed, so we took the darling 4-pack litter from the Weimaraner rescue. (They were an accidental litter, and the original owner couldn't afford to feed them.) We can't believe he was with us this long, as he is the cutest little Weimaraner/Lab? looking boy.
Coastie's new dad, and new sister, Stella, drove out to meet a dog in L.A. on Saturday, but that dog was just not a match, and we all know it either is, or it isn't. I let Garrett know that Coastie might still be available! They drove out to meet Coastie on Sunday, and the two dogs were immediate friends!
We are so happy that Coastie found his forever family, with his wonderful dog dad, and his sweet new sister, Stella. And we think these smiles say it all!
Happy Tails, beautiful Coastie! 🐾🐾
Rocky has been with us since February. He was surrendered to a couple by a homeless man, along with a litter of puppies, and a mama dog, and they helped get the dogs to us. Mama dog and Rocky were spayed and neutered, but Rocky stayed with the rescue, as he was possibly being used as a bait dog. In spite of that, he is a doting, loving, friendly, ball-loving, parkour-performing, sweet boy.
Rocky's new parents reached out and inquired about Rocky, as they had just lost their beloved Pittie, and something about Rocky's picture connected with them. I made sure there was no male dog in the home, and they made sure that Rocky was not people-aggressive. They came out to meet him on Sunday, and when I brought Rocky out off-leash, he came right out, walked right over, and sat next to his new dad.
Rocky's dad is retired, so Rocky now has parents at home all the time, a pool, grandkids to love on, and he gets to sleep with his mom and dad every night. He will be doted on as the only dog, and we are ecstatic that Rocky got just the home he needed, and very much the home he deserved!
Happy Tails, sweet Rocky! 🐾🐾
Miss Pippa (right) is headed home! This adoption took place over three weeks ago, but her new parents were getting married and had a honeymoon planned. They came and met her, and fell in love, and then asked if I could board her until they returned.
Her new brother, Kiwi, is so excited to have his new baby sister at home, and we couldn't be more excited for Pippa and her new family! What a beautiful new beginning for all of you!
(If Pippa looks familiar to some of you - she was adopted and returned. Her sweet, former dad completed her first adoption during a period of deep grief after the loss of his previous dog. He quickly realized that because of this, his lifestyle, and his age that he wasn't going to be able to give Pippa the life she deserved. He regretfully returned her, in tears.
This is a happy ending all-around, though, as he knows that she has found her rightful home, and he is extremely happy for Pippa and her new family!)
Happy Tails, precious Pippa! 🐾🐾
This beautiful family drove all the way from Lompoc, after seeing Chelsea and Divinity on rescueme.org, and after getting their application approved. Chelsea was their first choice, but I thought that based on lifestyle, Divinity was a better match. Ultimately, though, it is not up to me. The dogs bond with who they choose!
As you can see - they chose Divinity! She's so laid-back, and calm, and such a sweet-natured little love. And they've reached out since to check on Chelsea, as their daughter was concerned she might be sad without her sister. Divinity - you won the jackpot, sweet girl. Wishing you and your new family all the love.
Happy Tails, beautiful Divinity! 🐾🐾
Little Richard is now Odin! This family lost their beloved family pets, and realized that the house was just too quiet. They were ready to welcome a new baby into their lives. They looked at both Mastiff/mix boys, but were on vacation at the time. By the time they were able to make the drive here, this beautiful boy was the only one left.
But, as you can guess, this sweet-tempered, soft baby boy was a hit right out of the gate. He's going to be a large baby, and we can't wait to watch him grow up! He is now being spoiled rotten by his human brothers, Elijah and Jackson. Here's to your new, pampered life, sweet boy! We love you!
Happy Tails, darling Odin! 🐾🐾
Bailey's new parents had been searching for a dog that would not trigger his new mom's allergies. With Bailey being 1/2 Scottish Terrier, and the other half unknown - a meet and greet to test allergies was required.
His new parents came to meet him and fell in love! With no reactions, they took him home hoping that no other issues would develop. They called four hours later saying that all was well, and that they wanted to finalize the adoption! Bailey is now Yoshi, and he is being spoiled rotten. Cheers to all your new adventures!!!
Happy Tails, beautiful Yoshi! 🐾🐾
Miss Colleen had interest right away. But prior to her original meet and greet, she got a spider bite. So - I held off on the adoption until she completed a course of antibiotics. Her new family was sad, but finally came out last weekend with their other dog,
Meeko (on the left), to come meet Collean -and it was a match made in sister heaven! 💖
Collean is a Mastiff-mix, and is going to be a big girl! We can't wait to see her grow, and to see all her new adventures with her wonderful new family! By the way - she is now Tinkerbell!
Happy Tails, darling Tinkerbell! 🐾🐾🐾
This one was delayed because it was hard for me to put together. Tank was a rescue favorite, for a myriad of reasons. He was gorgeous, dog friendly, people friendly, outgoing and a social butterfly. But he was stubborn. Not for me, but anybody else who asked him to follow a rule was met with selective hearing. Tank listened to his 1st Momma. I loved that about him.
Tank would wait for me. He followed me, and was in every live pack walk, starting trouble - as only Tank could do! He was who I chose to do the K-FROG interview and for very good reason. He made quite the impression on Pepper and the staff with his beautiful self. Although he had his way with a set of ear-buds during the interview, he still got treats, toys, and good boy hugs.
His new mom and dad love him so much. He is adjusting well, and enjoying his new life. Tank made such an impression on me, and I totally cried when I knew they were going to adopt him. He is a keeper for sure. Oh Tank, my sweet dude. I love you, you were the GOODEST boy!!! Fetch all the balls baby boy. We love and miss you.
Happy Tails, beloved Tank! 🐾🐾🐾
Emma Hope's new mom, Shauna, was referred to our rescue by my friend Dinesh, because she and her family only adopt rescue dogs. She went to the website and indicated interest in five different dogs. She came out with her children. They met Astrid and another dog, and Astrid immediately took to Shauna's daughter, Lorelei. But...I told Shauna that I had one surprise dog who wasn't posted yet, who I wanted her to meet.
So I let out baby Emma Hope, my parvo survivor, my warrior, my little soul puppy. Emma came and locked eyes with them, and that was it. Although they loved Astrid, they all agreed that Miss Emma Hope, now Sarabi, was a better fit for their family. And the rest is history! Much love to all of them as they begin this new journey together.
(Emma Hope is now Sarabi.)
Happy Tails, sweet Sarabi! 🐾🐾🐾
Rosie's new family has been waiting in the wings since February! Polly first spotted her on a live pack walk. Due to family obligations and schedules, they waited to see all the available dogs once their schedules were open. They had their eyes on many dogs - but were always drawn back to Rosie.
(And I, for one, couldn't understand why Rosie hadn't been adopted, as she was pretty much a standout dog. Good with all dogs, every human, loved fetch, loved water. Great on and off leash, with phenomenal recall!)
When Polly was finally ready, she and her husband made her way to me. They had a list of dogs who they wanted to see, with Rosie at the top. I already knew that Rosie was their dog, and never brought anyone else out. She was exactly what they wanted. We agreed that because of Rosie having an up ear, and a down ear - that she had been looked over. Discrimination happens in all species, sadly! As you can see, Rosie has made quite the impression, already.
Grandkids, dogs, and all the new people in her life are totally in love with her. Good did come to all of those who waited!!!
Happy Tails, lovely Rosie! 🐾🐾🐾
Doug reached out after being referred by a neighbor. He was originally interested in Kyra and Magnolia, but even with an approved application - the family had some obligations that kept them from coming to meet the girls right away. When they did get to the rescue, they mentioned that they wanted a dog who would be a form of support and love for their son and the rest of the family. Tomahawk was introduced to them, and the fairy tale began!
Tomahawk took to Zane immediately. The family is happy to report that their new pup is fits in well, and is already a beloved member of their family! And we couldn't be happier for all of them. 💖
Happy Tails, sweet Tomahawk! 🐾🐾🐾
Lori's nephew saw Takoda on our website, and said, "That's the one!" They came to meet him with their Shepherd mix, Kora - and the rest is history! 💖 Greg's been on the hunt for a male German Shepherd puppy for some time, and we're so glad that Takoda caught his eye.
Takoda's new family is so happy to have a new, smart, charming baby boy join their family! And we wish them all the best!
Happy Tails, darling Takoda! 🐾🐾🐾
Miss Juniper's new family had recently lost their beloved Sabrina, and were looking for a new friend for Ebony, below right. They reached out, and were looking for a dog who enjoyed indoor and outdoor privileges. Juniper's picture was sent, and they thought she was beautiful!
The next week, Juniper's new family came to meet her, and decided to take her home for the weekend to see how she fit in. All was perfect, and her adoption was finalized. We know this girl has a beautiful life ahead with her wonderful new, forever family!
Happy Tails, joyful Miss Juniper! 🐾🐾🐾
Miss Magnolia's new momma was attending school in Long Beach, and saw both Magnolia and Emma online. She came to meet them both, and after visiting, knew Magnolia was the perfect companion, and her girl!
Magnolia's mom came back a week later, after packing up her dorm, to bring Magnolia to her new home in Arizona. We wish them so many beautiful moments, and know they will create incredible memories together!
Happy Tails, marvelous Miss Magnolia!

Korra's new family saw her on yourloveunleasheddogrescue.rescueme.org, and drove all the way from Ft. Worth, Texas, to meet her! Their son was looking for an ESA snuggle baby, and our girl, who is a Mastiff mix, was the perfect fit.
When they got here, Korra followed her new human around, and not surprisingly, seemed to know that this wonderful family was taking her to her forever home! It was mutual love at first sight, and we wish them all harmonious days ahead!
Happy Tails, cutest Korra! 🐾🐾🐾
Bentley's new mom contacted us because just weeks ago, sadly, their family had lost their fourteen year old doggy to old age. They thought Bentley might be a good match for their family - and after meeting him, they were almost positive.
After a week's trial adoption, we are ecstatic to announce that Bentley has found his forever home! He has three darling young humans and a wonderful mom and dad to spoil him rotten. Hopefully he helps heal their broken hearts, and helps them make many new happy memories!
Happy Tails, precious Bentley! 🐾🐾🐾
Bella's new dad knew she was the one, but he had to be sure. He made the trek out to us, and asked a ton of questions. This meeting sealed the deal, and he knew Bella was the one!
Bella will get tons of exercise and have lots of adventures with her active dad. And just look at this precious paw action! She knows she's found her dad and her forever home! We couldn't be happier with this wonderful match, and we wish these two the happiest of times!
Happy Tails, beautiful Bella Lee! 🐾🐾🐾
Amaya's new family drove all the way from Oregon for her! They cancelled appointments, and navigated RV park reservations to get to their girl. They are a Shepherd family, and knew they didn't want to miss out on this beauty. And it was all worth it - because it was a love connection for all involved!
Amaya was able to meet her new doggy brother Jaxin, and even her new kitty sibling! They all get along, and were even already napping together on the ride home. We couldn't be happier for Amaya and her new family, and know they all have amazing adventures ahead!
Happy Tails, gorgeous Amaya! 🐾🐾🐾
This was doubly meant to be! Hansel's new family wanted a gentle giant, and they have found it in our sweet boy. Hansel's new mom searched Great Danes, and found him there, and was then redirected to our Facebook page. Her son found Hansel in our posting on rescueme.org!
Also welcoming Hansel to the family are his 14 year old Staffie brother, and his 14 year old Chiweenie brother. From the way that Hansel was brought to this family, to the smiles here - we know that this was meant to be, and we couldn't be happier for all of them!
HappyTails, beautiful Hansel! 🐾🐾🐾
Talk about meant to be!!! Kelsey and Steve were responsible for bringing Kuma's litter, and their doggy parents to our rescue. Their owner, a man living in a tent in the wash, in San Bernardino, also agreed to let us have Kuma's mom spayed, and she was returned to him.
Kelsey and Steve fell in love with Kuma the minute they saw her, as a seven-week-old puppy. They worked hard for this love story, but that makes it all the sweeter. They make an absolutely beautiful family, and we couldn't be more sure that this was meant to be!
Happy Tails, sweet Kuma! 🐾🐾🐾
This beautiful, furry boy was spotted by his new mama on our page. She is a vet tech, and once she found out that our boy was good with kids, sweet, and good-natured - she knew they needed to meet him.
Not only does Yogi have a wonderful new family with two kids of his own, but he gets to go to doggy day care next to his mom's work every day. His new family says he is absolutely perfect, and we could not agree more!
Happy Tails, sweet Yogi! 🐾🐾🐾
And she is now Khaleesi! Her dad has been following our page since February, and knew this sweet girl was meant to be his! When he arrived from San Francisco, and met her in person - he knew for sure.
Gorgeous Mayfair/Khaleesi has found her forever person, and will have an amazing home with a dog park on the premises. What a very lucky girl, and what a beautiful family they make!
Happy Tails, sweet Khaleesi! 🐾🐾🐾
So I had the pleasure of taking the infamous BURT right on over to his other momma’s house last night. Some of you aren’t aware, but now will be, Burt is who brought Lori to me. She watched his trapping video and fell in love with him. She reached out to visit him and showed up as often as possible to show him unconditional love, all the while quietly enjoying my company. Our talks were over dogs/rescue/ my why, and pack walks, She snuck her way into a heart that had just decided love wasn’t for me. I had my dogs and the rescue and I never could have wanted anything more. I was wrong.
I now am the other 1/2 of this beautiful boy's adoption. So he’s with his other momma, but he will still be posted guys. Burt will always be here. He loves his 2 new brothers, as well.
Sweetest Tails my handsome dude! 🐾🐾🐾
